Animation TV Programming: The Secret of Pets
Tools used: DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Nuke, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop & Illustrator.
As part of the “MA Post Production for TV and Film” course.
Target Audience: CBBC/CITV viewers aged 4-6, running for 2-4 minutes using 2D animation.
The group consisted of: Laura Matthews whose role was storyboard/concept art. Mumah Yahkup in the role of director/camera. My role was as animator/compositor.
We had to create an interactive book, character led, with a great narrative which could translate into traditional TV programming. We needed to have a budget for music costs, character and animation costs, writing costs, interactive costs and subtitling as well as how it all would come together and how to get it all into the market place.
The animation had to reflect pets as friendly cartoons. The animation would also need to be creative, fun and exciting. Chapman! is a progressive forward thinking company, so the animation needed to reflect current or future trends in animation. The animation should be able to be used on various TV programming, so we needed to keep this in mind.
